corrections

I'll be the first to admit that I am a "corrector". In my mind, correcting grammatical errors while my kids are young will (again, in my twisted, warped mind) help them in the future. Who knows though- maybe it'll end up biting me in the bum.

One thing I am pretty adamant about is the "Utah accent". I personally can't conform to it, which translates to: I won't let my kids conform to it either. The one that bothers me most is the "T" sounds that tends to disappear from many common words, i.e.:
MOUNTAIN
BUTTON
and many more,
but say those words without the "T" sound, and you'll see what I mean.
It tends to have just a "in" sound at the end.
(this is harder to explain than I thought it would be, but if you've heard it, you'll understand)

Anyway- this story will hopefully now make sense:

The other day Brenna was looking out the window and saw a cute neighbor boy of ours ride by on his bike, and Brenna said to me
"Look mom, there's Col(t)on."
I asked her what she said, and she in turn (knowing what I meant by my question) said
"I really need to work on the TON thing,
don't I?"

How can your kids be so cute? It was so fun to have them at choir today.

Whats bad about a Utah accent? Just cause were less fortunate than you cause we was raised by folk from Spanish Fark don't mean ya'll have to poke fun at us. I reckon we just might sound funny, but that don't give you no right. ;)
