the bad guy

This morning, Abby was helping Brenna tie her shoes as I was getting ready. I overheard them talking about Satan (not an uncommon subject around here lately, to be honest). Brenna has recently learned about him at church and has had some genuinely strong feelings towards him.
Abby was telling Brenna the story, and I was in my room and grabbed a notebook and wrote as fast as I could! Here's how the story went:

B: Why is Satan so mean and scary?
A: Because he made bad choices and wants us to be bad like him.
B: But Abby, tell me why he's naughty
A: Okay Brenna. He told Heavenly Father that he had an idea about going down to earth and making all the people do whatever he says. Then Heavenly Father asked Jesus what he would do and Jesus said he would make it so the people could choose right from wrong, you know, like CTR.
B: Um, for your information- I'm totally choosing Jesus' side because I don't like Satan. He's the bad guy.
A: Brenna, you already did choose to be on Jesus' side, silly.

I love their desire to learn, especially about the scriptures.
I also love these moments when I overhear conversations like this!

I love this post! I just taught the same lesson to my class, and it was so interesting to hear them talk about it. At one point, a boy said, "move over Satan- someone new is coming to town." I almost wet my pants, but realized that he was understanding the lesson! Out of the mouth of babes...

Well, they've got it down that's for sure. Tell Brenna I'm with her, totally on Jesus' side.

So sweet. I can hardly wait until my children have discussions instead of only arguments!
