pet peeve

I'm probably not justified in even saying this, actually I know I'm not.
Nonetheless, a huge pet peeve of mine is poor grammar. While we were down in Las Vegas last weekend and talking with my in-laws, we got on this subject after I shared a story about Brenna in pre-school two years ago.
STORY:
One day as I was picking Brenna up from school, her teacher was laughing and told me what happened in class earlier that day. The teacher was talking to another student and said something like "Oh, you did that so good". Brenna immediately said "Um, Mrs. __________, you should have said well instead of good." Her teacher knew Brenna was right, but told me that she said good because she was speaking to a 3 or 4 year old child and wanted to be on his level. No offense, but I don't think that's an excuse. She's the TEACHER for heavens sake, but I'm not, so I'll shut my mouth... it's just my opinion.

We all laughed when I shared that story and Grandpa Carlton was proud of little miss sass-a-frass! The conversation then went on to other common grammar mistakes. I say I'm not justified in saying this because I KNOW I'm at fault more often than not. I want to improve my own common mistakes and I also feel it's important to teach my children the proper way to speak so they are always ready to correct their teachers!!! HA HA, only kidding!
(Stop correcting the 92 errors in this post already!)

No, I'm not wanting to become so obsessed with it that it gets to the point of needing to say things like:
"To whom are you speaking" rather than "Who are you talking to?"
That's obsessive (again, in my opinion). There are just some things that... bug me.

Some of my simple annoyances are:
YOUR and YOU'RE
THERE, THEIR and THEY'RE
TOO and TO
EXCEPT and ACCEPT
THEN and THAN

I've never been a fan of these page by page calendars,
but this is one I need:(side note: the holiday season is quickly approaching, i.e.: Christmas, Hanukkah; my birthday; oh yeah- Labor Day, that's the closest one! Just a thought...)

Here's an excerpt from one of the days in the calendar that made me laugh!
SCARED/SACRED
This is one of those silly typos which your spelling checker won't catch: Gods are sacred;
the damned in hell are scared

I love you all and I'm sorry I have so many issues.
That's me though... "Queen of Issues"

That caleander would be handy. I have all those same hoilidays coming up. What a coincidence.

I couldn't agree more with this post! I'd also like to add "it's" and "its".
