I found out the other day that Grandma Charlotte's (Bens step-mom) sister Tara lost her condo in the Fallbrook Fire. Her's was one of four to burn to the ground in her community... it's horrible, but luckily they have insurance and things will work out in the end I'm sure.
Then I heard just yesterday that some good friends of ours from Glendora who moved to Lake Arrowhead about 5 years ago lost their house and had only 5 minutes to get their belongings out. Mike & Myrna Riley for those of you who might know them. Their son David and I went to school together... they're a wonderful family who were always so sweet to my parents especially. I just can't imagine what they're going through. We were sent a link of pictures of their home that just break my heart. I for some reason feel the need to post them here, so humor me if you will.

The link we were sent was a blog of a friend of their familys and she wrote about a fund that has been set up to help the family. My mom made a comment that she was going to go make a donation- it wouldn't be much, but something is better than nothing, and I think I will go do the same thing today. If I were in their situation, I couldn't even imagine the stress that comes with thinking about where to go from here... Here's what their friend wrote on her blog:
Dear Friends,
At the request of and with permission from my dear friend Robyn, I post these pictures and message below. If you have the means with which to donate ANYTHING, it would be helpful and ever so appreciated. The Rileys truly are the kindest people you will ever meet. I know that most of you do not know them, but trust that I wouldn't ask for your help unless it was needed. If you could donate to the fund I would be forever grateful and I know they would be too. These fires are a terrible thing and so horrible for those living the nightmare. I know that most of us watch the news and wish there was some way we could help. Here it is...
On October 22, 2007, Michael & Myrna Riley were evacuated unexpectedly from their home in Lake Arrowhead, California. A few hours later their home caught fire and within 30 minutes burned to the ground. The Michael Riley Donation Account has been set up to offer emergency assistance to help them get back on their feet.If you would like to donate, please make check payable to: Michael Riley Donation Account. You may make a deposit at any Zion’s Bank or send donation to:
Zion’s Bank, 98 North Main, Brigham City, Utah, 84302.
Phone: (435)734-2601.
Thank you in advance if you find yourself able to contribute. I have more gratitude and appreciation for you then you'll ever know. Also, please feel free to pass a link to my blog and/or the message to people you know. There might be someone you know who would like to help out a family and just don't know how. (Don't spam everyone, just send it out at your discretion.) Thank you for your support.
