"Only in Beaver"

As many of you knew (since I don't shut up about things) that the girls and I were able to get out of town last week and just got home last night. It was a much needed break for all of us, but I was especially excited because I got to have some "alone" time and it was WAY overdue.

So, here's a brief description, or as brief as I can be about our adventure. :) Everything started off well, when I knew it was time for the first inevitable "potty break" in the one and only Beaver, Utah. We went to our favorite Chevron with the big chair that I'm sure 99.9% of you have been to, right? It seriously has the cleanest restrooms and always has able and willing service people to help check your washer fluid, tire pressure, etc. I am kind of obsessed with a feature in my car which tells me how many miles per gallon I'm getting. I assumed I'd get descent gas mileage since I was highway traveling, but noticed it wasn't any better than my normal city driving. So, my first thought was to have my tire pressure checked- so along comes "Mr. I'll check your tires for you ma'am" (with a smile on his face when my girls asked him 97 questions). He checked all four and when he checked the last one... it was totally flat and he could see a huge nail in plain sight. Ugh- SO annoying, but I obviously needed it fixed. He said it would only take a few minutes, but he had to "raise my car up" on the thing-a-majig because something about my car being German and the way the tires are put on- I don't know, I wasn't really listening. So, I started to tell the girls to get out and he said "Oh, don't worry- they'll be fine. If they want to go for a ride, that's just fine with me" and I didn’t think twice about it, so off they went… up at least 15 feet and I stood there in the garage taking pictures as he repaired the hole. They thought it was GREAT, but the best part is that it wasn’t until I was telling a friend about it later and he said something about how only in Beaver Utah would you be able to leave your kids in the car… even though they are totally capable of opening the doors and falling 15 feet to the ground (oops- I didn’t think of that!) and another good point was made about me standing in the garage right next to the car… that’s a big no-no pretty much everywhere other than BEAVER, UTAH!

I love their little heads popping out of the windows!! Your girls would NEVER open the door 15 feet in the air just to see what would happen... right?
p.s. you can adjust the date/time that you post things - to rearrange your posts... i'll show you later.

Such a cute blog! Thank you for sharing the address with me. So what's your schedule like these days? We really live to close to not get together!

How funny - the girls had a little adventure so early into the trip. My boys would love to go on a ride like that. Maybe we should stop in the next time we're in Beaver!!
